Holiday Winner, an imposing daughter of Vision d’Etat and the winner of two races on the flat, commanded a final bid of €110,000 on www.arqanaonline.com from Pierre Boulard, acting on behalf of Ireland’s freshly crowned champion trainer Willie Mullins.
Trained in Deauville by Romain Le Dren Doleuze, son of former jockey George and brother to Hong-Kong based Olivier, the imposing bay was offered on as an exciting jumping prospect. A 17.1hh individual, she hails from the first crop of triple Group 1 winner Vision d’Etat, like France’s leading four-year-old filly DE BON COEUR, who is still unbeaten in six starts over hurdles including the Gr.1 Prix Cambacérès and three more Graded races. Holiday Winner has not been seen over jumps yet but Boulard reckons she has all the right credentials for the game: “She is an impressive athlete with plenty of size but not on the heavy side, which is important over jumps. Her form is very progressive and she has showed that she handles soft ground, a requirement to run in Ireland. Willie and I are very pleased to have bought her at what we think is a fair price for such a package.”
Willie Mullins’s ability with the fair sex is well documented and on his roll of honour appear several fillies and mares who were bought at ARQANA, most recently Let’s Dance, Limini, Petite Parisienne and Adriana des Mottes.
