Darley Romanet : Coronet wins 2nd Gr1 on her way to British Champions’ Day

As might be expected despite the doubts expressed by his entourage about his ability to sticky pitch, the 5-year-old mare Coronet (Dubawi) confirmed Sunday at Deauville his Grand Prix Saint-Cloud (Gr1) victorious this summer on the 2,000 meters of the Darley Prix Jean Romanet (Gr1), last big championship of the meeting.

She followed the leaders of the race and dominated them to keep herself out of reach of the good finisher With You (Dansili), second with less than a length in front of the tenacious Irish Red Tea (Sakhee), who is doing without doubt the best performance of his career for his first attempt at this level, his 35th outing, just two times more than the winner!

Coronet is out of Approach (Darshaan), a Group-placed sister to Aussie Rules who also gave birth to Midas Touch (Galileo), second in the Irish Derby (Gr1), then in the Saint-Leger (Gr1). Her connections now aim one of the British Champions’ Day events on October 19th at Ascot.
