With every year that passes, the Autumn Sale further confirms its place as one of the best sources of National Hunt performers, with names such as TZIGANE DU BERLAIS, the recent Velka Pardubicka winner, bought as a yearling by Chris Richner from Haras de Grandcamp, FARCLAS, BALKO DES FLOS, MIN, ARKALON, TRAFFIC FLUIDE, AGRAPART, ROI MAGE, YALA ENKI, EX FAN DES SIXTIES, MY WAY and several more all such examples. The sale has also produced several Group winners on the flat that have been bought as yearlings or in training such as CARZOFF, previously trained by Alain Couetil and now a Group 3 winner in Australia, as well as recent Gr.1 QIPCO Champion Stakes 3rd SUBWAY DANCER, and Stakes/Group horses HERMAPHRODITE, CASPIAN PRINCE, ZALAMEA, PALINODIE, LA FEVE etc.
The 2018 catalogue, now available online, is made up of 635 lots. The sale will start at 11am on Monday, November 19 for the horses-in-training; Tuesday, November 20 from 1pm for National Hunt youngsters (yearlings and two-year-old stores), while the flat-bred yearlings will go through from 11am on Wednesday, November 21.
Guy Cherel reduction sale one of the headline acts
A total of 236 horses-in-training will go through the ring of which 35 from Guy Cherel as part of a reduction sale. Of note is the promising FOLATIERE (lot 184), a daughter of Al Namix and the winner of her first two starts over hurdles, as well as three-year-olds by Saint Des Saints, Martaline, No Risk At All, Network, Coastal Path, Diamond Boy, Kapgrade, Kap Rock, etc. that are mainly unraced.
Other National Hunt performers include:
BLUE BLUE EYES (lot 211), a three-year-old gelding by Sageburg with a rating of 42,5 on the flat that impressed on his winning debut over hurdles at Bordeaux.
FRANÇOIS (lot 224), a three-year-old gelding that won on his debut by more than three lengths over 3400m on October 9.
Recent Prix Dominique Sartini (L.) runner-up, the four-year-old HOT MOTIVE (lot 225) has also already won this season at Fontainebleau and Auteuil.
The most famous French silks on the flat will also be represented, with the Aga Khan Studs sending eight horses through the ring including the promising VADAVAR (lot 145), that recently made a winning start to his career over 2,000m at Chantilly, in addition to Group 3 placed DOUNYAPOUR (lot 146), that most recently posted an easy success over 2400m for Alain de Royer Dupre.
A further eight lots are catalogued from Wertheimer et Frère including the black-type performer MILK MAN (lot 158), a four-year-old son of Kitten’s Joy that finished third in the Grand Prix des Provinces (L.) on his latest start, as well as SAHELIAN (lot 159), a three-year-old gelding by Sea The Stars, that was also most recently placed at Listed level.
