After two years in Chantilly, the Arc Sale returns to Saint-Cloud Racecourse just a few minutes from ParisLongchamp, where the prestigious Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe also makes its big comeback.

Now available online, the catalogue brings together 45 horses-in-training that will go through the ring from 6.30pm on October 6. In addition, 9 Wild Cards remain to be filled for connections that wish to enter their horses following exciting recent performances.

The 2018 edition of the sale is made up of a majority of horses that have already won blacktype, as 27 of them have already won or been placed at Group/Listed level.

Promising Two-Year-Olds

A total of 9 juvenile colts and fillies that have already shown their talent on the racecourse will come under the hammer, including:

  • The Carlos Laffon-Parias trained INSANDI (lot 6) with a rating of 104. He most recently finished runner-up in the Gr.3 Prix des Chenes when going down to the unbeaten ANODOR. This son of Anodin and Listed winner INSAN MALA won at Deauville this summer when taking the Prix de Ticheville over 1400m.
  • A daughter of Pedro The Great, LAGRANDECATHERINE is lot 24. This Antonio Marcialis trained filly currently has a rating of 100 and finished second in the Gr.2 Prix du Calvados at Deauville on August 18, behind dual Group winning Godolphin filly BEYOND REASON.
  • The winner of the L Prix de Fleche SEXY METRO (lot 14) is offered from Didier Guillemin’s stable. With a rating of 108, he finished second in the Gr.2 Prix Robert Papin this season, beaten just a neck by Phoenix Thoroughbreds’ SIGNORA CABELLO that went on to finish second in the Gr.1 Prix Morny.

Improving Three-Year-Olds

The catalogue is also made up of 20 three-year-olds including several blacktype performers such as:

  • ANCIENT SPIRIT (lot 38), a dual Group 2 winner in Germany with a rating of 115. This son of Invincible Spirit is out of a daughter of Galileo and won the Gr.2 Mehl-Mülhens-Rennen, the German 2,000 Guineas, for Jean-Pierre Carvalho before beating more experienced horses including Antoine Griezmann’s TORNIBUSH in the Gr.2 Oettingen-Rennen on August 30, also over 1600m.
  • NIGHT OF ENGLAND (lot 18), trained by Henk Grewe with a rating of 106. This daughter of Lord Of England is from the close family of Champion Pakistan Star and finished second in the German Oaks, the Gr.1 Preis Der Diana, having also taken the same place in the Gr.3 Mehl Mülhens-Trophy at Hamburg this season.
  • The Listed Prix Pelleas winner AUBEVOYE (lot 7), that has already won four times including three times consecutively this season. Very consistent, this Jean-Claude Rouget trained colt won a Class 2 and then a Class 1 over 2000m before winning at Listed level over the same distance.
  • Intello’s daughter TRESORERIE will go through the ring as lot 29. This very progressive filly is out of Listed winner TREASURE and is trained by Christophe Ferland. She most recently finished second in the Listed Prix Madame Jean Couturie over 2000m, just under a length behind the winner WATAYOUNA.

Four-Year-Olds and Upwards

More experienced, 8 four-year-olds and upwards will be offered, including the recent runner-up in the Listed Hoppegartener Fliegerpreis EURYALE (lot 21) from Henri-François Devin; the very consistent BAKOEL KOFFIE (lot 44) that most recently finished second in the  Gr.2 Goldene Peitsche; ZALAMEA (lot 28), third in the Gr.3 Prix Messidor this season; as well as the very consistent Wertheimer & Frère owned ALIGNEMENT (lot 26), third in the GP de la Ville de Craon (L) on September 3.
