A full dispersal of leading owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede’s breeding stock will offer a once in a lifetime opportunity to buy some of the best National Hunt fillies and mares ever to come on the market, when they go under the hammer at ARQANA on December 11. The very first crops of this young breeding operation feature the likes of Raffles Sun, Raya Time and Fusil Raffles, and the youngsters retained will be racing for the highly successful partnership, which should make their dams and sisters yet more valuable in the near future.
Taking place during the final session of the four-day Breeding Stock Sale, 30 young broodmares and fillies in training will be dispersed, consigned by their home base Haras du Lieu des Champs.
Three of them are in foal to the epochal sire, Martaline:
There also features top-class chaser UTOPIE DES BORDES, who took the Gr.1 Prix Maurice Gillois and Gr.2 Prix Jean Stern as well as a Listed hurdle at Sandown. A daughter of Antarctique, she is a full or half-sister to three extremely talented fillies in VICTOIRE DES BORDE, BELLE DU BERRY and QUENTA DES BORDES. She is in foal to BALKO.
No less than four mares are in foal to the current champion sire Saint des Saints, including the high-class Sholokhov mare LOXLADE, the winner of seven consecutive races over hurdles and fences for Francois Nicolle, including a Listed steeplechase at Enghien.
Co-owner Simon Munir commented on the dispersal: “We have been very fortunate over the past few years to have had a lot of racing success with our mares and fillies, who have subsequently been retired to stud. This has resulted in the number of horses in our breeding operation and racehorses in training growing far faster than we anticipated. We have therefore decided to sell our broodmares to enable us to manage our bloodstock interests more effectively. It is very hard to part with these mares, especially those such as Ma Filleule, Gitane du Berlais, Une Artiste and Utopie des Bordes who are very close to our hearts and have given us wonderful days at the racetrack and have already produced exciting progeny that we are retaining.”
The catalogue for the Breeding Stock Sale will be released online from Monday 5 November.
