The list of nominations that will be auctioned on Friday 2nd December to benefit the charity Au-Delà des Pistes continues to grow. The latest additions are as follows:
• VADAMOS, kindly donated by Haras de Saint-Pair, will take up stud duties in 2017 at Tally-Ho Stud
in Ireland, standing at a fee of €10,000. This magnificent son of Monsun, which André Fabre
described as one of the best horses he had ever seen work on the Chantilly gallops, totalled four Group
victories including this season’s Prix du Moulin de Longchamp, where he demonstrated his impressive
• CHARM SPIRIT, generously donated by Qatar Racing and Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani, will stand his
2017 season at Tweenhills in the UK at a fee of £20,000, having been available at Haras de Bonneval
this year. This son of Invincible Spirit, who inherited his father’s high cruising speed, established himself
at the highest level over a mile as a 3-year-old by taking the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, the Prix du
Moulin de Longchamp and the Prix Jean Prat. His first foals hit the ground this year, of which 81 are
out of black type mares or mares who have produced black type progeny.
• MUKHADRAM, whose first progeny are currently foals, has been kindly donated by Shadwell Estate.
This son of Shamardal won three Group tests over 2000m including the Gr.1 Eclipse Stakes and the
Gr.3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes where he defeated subsequent multiple Gr.1 winner Main Sequence.
Limited to 120 mares per year, Mukhadram covered a complete book in his first season at stud, of which
80% were black type mares or mares who have produced black type progeny. He will stand at £7,000 at
Nunnery Stud in 2017.
• Finally, the nomination offered by Darley is one to DAWN APPROACH, not his sire New
Approach as was initially announced. Dawn Approach was Champion two-year-old after remaining
undefeated in six outings including the Gr.1 National Stakes and Gr.1 Dewhurst Stakes. He continued
to shine at three by winning the Gr.1 2000 Guineas and the St. James’s Palace Stakes in front of
Toronado. His first yearlings sold up to €300 000 and his service fee will be at €30 000 in 2017, where
he will stand at Kildangan Stud in Ireland.
We remind you that the total funds raised will go towards Au-Delà Des Pistes, the organisation created by the Aga Khan Studs and Godolphin to promote and coordinate thoroughbred aftercare and retraining of retired racehorses in France. Our objectives include:
• The organisation of a series of Retrained Racehorse Days, with the goals of promoting thoroughbred
welfare and aftercare and the work done by thoroughbred re-trainers throughout the racing community. The first Retrained Racehorse Day was held with great success this year on 28 August at Deauville-La
• The accreditation of existing retraining and rehoming facilities to guarantee the best possible care for
retired racehorses, allowing for traceability throughout their lives.
• Crisis funding for the most vulnerable horses.
