KENDARGENT, who is joint leading active French sire on percentage of Black Type Horses by runners in 2016, will stand for €22,000 exc. VAT (live foal) in 2017. Guy Pariente explained “We are dedicated to making Kendargent a truly international stallion and have come up with some very interesting offers for our foreign clients which we look forward to discussing with them.” The handsome grey, who covered over 480 mares from 2014 to 2016, had a successful year both on the track and in the sales ring this year. The highlight of his yearling crop was of course when a daughter of his out of Restia, making her a full sister to Gr.1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes third and winner at Group 2 and Group 3 level Restiadargent, sold for 525,000 gns to Juddmonte at Tattersalls. On the track Goken, who recently retired to stud, took third place in the Gr.1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, Jimmy Two Times won the Gr.3 Prix de la Porte Maillot and was third in the Gr.1 Prix Maurice de Gheest while both Restiana and the two-year-old Xaarino won at Listed level.
GALIWAY, who will have his first foals in 2017, will stand for the same fee as 2016 of €3,000 exc. VAT (live foal). This five-year-old son of Galileo is out of a Danehill mare, meaning he is from the same cross as champions such as Frankel, Teofilo and Intello. A Listed winner and Group 3 placed on the track, the striking bay covered an excellent book of mares in his first season with 54% of them being winners, 24% Black Type producers and 15% Black Type performers.
GOKEN who is one of five Group winners to date for Kendargent will become his first son to stand at stud when he takes up duties at Haras de La Huderie for a fee of €5,000 exc. VAT (live foal) in 2017. He showed precocity as a two-year-old when he won the Gr.3 Prix du Bois before finishing third in the Gr.2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte. As a three-year-old he took the Gr.3 Prix Texanita before crossing The Channel to be trained by Kevin Ryan for whom he won a Listed race in Lingfield on his first start. In June 2016, Goken beat some of the best sprinters in Europe when finishing third to Profitable in the Gr.1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot. Guy Pariente recently made the decision to retire Goken from racing but he has chosen to base the four-year-old at Haras de La Huderie: “It is only five minutes away from Haras de Colleville and I think Beranger Bussy will do a very good job at promoting him. I love Goken as a horse and I have a lot of faith in his future as a stallion.”
The Haras de Colleville stallions, as well as Goken at Haras de La Huderie, will be available to see by appointment during the forthcoming Arqana Breeding Sale in Deauville.
