Online sale will begin Thursday 6th October at 3:00pm French time
The Aga Khan Studs’ VEDEVANI will be the next horse to be offered on the online platform Arqanaonline.com, with the sale starting at 3:00pm French time on Thursday 6th October to close 24 hours later.
The son of Dubawi out of Group 1 victrix Vadawina, initially catalogued for the Arc Sale, was withdrawn to run in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. He did so with much credit, making good use of his speed and aptitude to good ground.
Bred in the purple, Vedevani hinted at his potential from his very first start as a juvenile, scoring in the coveted Prix de Crèvecoeur at Deauville. He held off 12 opponents on that occasion including future Gr.2 Prix Chaudenay winner Doha Dream. His only other outing at two resulted in a close second to Godolphin’s Cloth Of Stars in the Gr.3 Prix des Chênes. The winner took the Gr.3 Prix La Force and Gr.2 Prix Greffulhe the following season.
As a three-year-old, Vedevani showed remarkable consistency, running to a mark of 105 on all his six outings. Having narrowly missed the board in the Gr.3 Prix Djebel and Gr.3 Prix de Fontainebleau, both over a mile, he took 3rd in the Listed Prix de Turenne over a mile and a half at Saint-Cloud, his final start before the Arc.
Vedevani is a colt of rare versatility as he has proved he can perform right-handed and left-handed, from 1,600m to 2,400m and on ground judged good to heavy. He is a magnificent horse who measures 16.1hh and his pedigree, either on the paternal or maternal side, indicates that he will only improve with age: son of Dubawi such as Postponed, Dartmouth, Time Test, Safety Check and Sheikhzayedroad have all earned their best titles at four and above, as have Vedevani’s close relatives Vadamar and Vadamos.
