The February Mixed Sale will take place on February 9th-10th in the Salle Elie de Brignac in Deauville. This session is positioned in the wake of the December Breeding Stock sale, which in 2014 posted new records headed by an 80% clearance rate and €28 million aggregate, reflecting strong international demand as well as a solid domestic market. The February Mixed Sale has progressively asserted itself as the inaugural, not-to-be-missed event of the season in Normandy.
The achievements of the likes of Russian Soul (Gr.3 Al Shindagha Sprint) or Bubble Chic (Gr.3 The Queen Mother Memorial Cup) on the flat, as well as Champ de Bataille (Gr.3 Prix Général de Saint-Didier) and Medinas (Gr.2 Long Distance Hurdle) over jumps, have provided evidence of the diversity and quality on offer at this sale. Some awesome pinhookings have also taken their source at the February Mixed Sale – last year, a short yearling by Le Havre was snapped up for a mere €9,000 by trainer Yann Barberot, only to be reoffered in the same ring seven months later, where he fetched €135,000.

This year, a total of 395 horses are set to go through the ring, comprising 70 horses in training, 171 mares in foal, 28 two-year-olds, 68 maiden mares and 58 short yearlings. The various sections will be split over the two days of selling, with the exception of the horses in training who will be grouped on the first day.

Horses in Training
This session will take place on Monday 9th February, starting from 1:00pm, with a diversified offer of performers aged three and over. They are headed by the Listed scorer CORNWALLVILLE (lot 174, from the Chantilly yard of Francis-Henri Graffard), and the black type Le Havre filly LA GOHANNIERE (lot 152, trained in Pau by François Rohaut). Other lots of note include VANGAUG (lot 74, from Henri-Alex Pantall), a three-year-old son of Gentlewave who boasts one win and one place from three outings; and FRENCH PAINTER (lot 94, from the yard of Rodolphe Collet), a Sea The Stars half-brother to the Gr.1 Dewhurst Stakes hero Belardo.

One of the highlights among the NH prospects is likely to be DIYOUDAR (lot 100, from the yard of Rodolphe Collet), a four-year-old Elusive City half-brother to the multiple Grade 1 scorer over jumps Diakali.
