An abundance of good performances by ARQANA graduates

Posted on | Posted in news

ARQANA graduates really made a name for themselves in the past few weeks, winning at the highest level on major racetracks such as Ascot, Cheltenham, Kempton, Leopardstown and Wetherby.

Two Grade 1 victories in England and Ireland

DON POLI landed his first Grade 1 when running out the brilliant winner of the Topaz Novice

Chase run on 29 December at Leopardstown. Offered for sale as a two-year-old store at the 2011 Summer Sale by Mill House Stud, he was bought for €42,000 by The Blue Spirit.

A year after his first victory at Grade 1 level, REVE DE SIVOLA was once again victorious at the highest level when bagging the JLT Long Walk Hurdle (Gr.1) on 20 December at Ascot. In doing so he beat ZARKANDAR, who defeated Gémix in the Grand Prix d’Automne (Gr.1) at Auteuil in 2014. Consigned as a yearling by Thomas Trapenard at the 2006 Breeding Stock Sale, he was bought for €6000 by Nick Williams. Another representative of the British trainer AUBUSSON picked up a very pleasing third place in the same race. Nick Williams had bought the latter for €28,000 at the October Yearling Sale in 2010. He was then presented by the Haras de Coudray.

DYNASTE (Summer Sale 2010) and AL FEROF (Breeding Stock Sale 2005) secured second and third places in the King George VI Chase (Gr.1), while ARCTIC FIRE (2012 Autumn Sale) finished third in the Ryanair Hurdle (Gr.1), less than two lengths away from multiple Grade 1 winner HURRICANE FLY.

Magnificent Grade 2 double for PTIT ZIG

PTIT ZIG, bought for €100,000 by Highflyer Bloodstock at the 2012 Autumn Sale added another trophy to the cabinet with a victory in the Mitie Novices’ Chase (Gr.2) run at Ascot on 19 December where he finished ahead of Grade 2 winners JOSSES HILL and DUNRAVEN STORM. He doubled up with a victory 13 days later in the BetBright Novices’ Chase (Gr.2) at Cheltenham.

A first Grade 3 for DOLATULO

DOLATULO made quite an impact on his first attempt at Graded level when taking the Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase (Gr.3) run on 26 December at Wetherby.

The Warren Greatrex protégé had been bought at the 2012 Summer Sale by Highflyer Bloodstock for €8000. He was then consigned by Laurent Postic.
