ARQANA renews its support for the “Association Sauvegarde des Terres d’Elevage” (Association for the preservation of stud land)
In the context of the December Breeding Stock Sale ARQANA is renewing its support for the ‘Association Sauvegarde des Terres d’Elevage’ (Association for the preservation stud land) which is continuing its fight against the giant landfill site established at Nonant-le-Pin by the company Guy Dauphin Environnement (GDE). An auction of highly prized stallion nominations has therefore been organised in the sales ring on Friday 5 December at 5pm, and not at 4:30pm as previously announced.
An auction of 17 highly prized nominations and a safari in Tanzania
Some extremely sought after nominations have been offered by the owners of the said stallions and will be sold at auction for the sole benefit of the ‘Association Sauvegarde des Terres d’Elevage’. Among the stallions on offer are many stallions already standing in France as well as four talented new recruits who will be standing at stud for the first time in 2015. The first is Anodin who is none other than a full brother to the champion racemare Goldikova (Anabaa). This Wertheimer & Frère bred horse proved his ability and consistency from the age of two over a mile; he landed the Prix Paul de Moussac (Gr.3) and went on to be placed on numerous occasions at Group 1 level including in the Queen Anne Stakes (Gr.1) and the Prix Jacques le Marois (Gr.1) at Deauville where he finished second to Kingman and ahead of the top class Olympic Glory. A nomination for the latter will also be put up for auction on Friday at Deauville. This son of the speedy Choisir is a very good looking horse with many qualities which will undoubtedly be attractive to breeders. He won four Group 1s from 2 to 4, over distances between 1400m and 1800m and on ground ranging from firm to heavy. The Irish stud Coolmore has kindly offered a nomination to Ruler Of The World, a Galileo half brother to 5 time Group 1 winner Duke Of Marmalade and himself winner of the Epsom Derby (Gr.1) in 2013 and of the Prix Foy (Gr.2) this year, ahead of the excellent Flintshire.
Also offered for auction will be options to send a mare in 2015 to the champion Kingman and the highly promising Lope de Vega. This will be the very last opportunity to obtain a nomination for these two stallions, as their books are already full. Once these rights have been bought at auction (for the benefit of the Association) the successful bidders will incur the official nomination fees and terms for each stallion.
While Lope de Vega made his mark at stud this year thanks to his first crop of two-year-olds headed by Dewhurst Stakes (Gr.1) winner Belardo, Kingman covered himself in glory on European racecourses, winning all the top races over a mile.
