A SYMBOLIC TOP PRICE AND A 23% INCREASE

Posted on | Posted in news
The seventh edition of the La Teste September yearling sale recorded good results thanks to the quality of horses presented and to the increasing number of buyers.
The aggregate went from €2,982,500 in 2013 to €3,680,000 (+23%). The average and median were down slightly on last year, going respectively from €18,437 to €17,609 and from €15,000 to €14,000.
The clearance rate of 81% was satisfactory, the catalogue being superior by 30% compared to last year.
The new format of the sale over 2 days was well appreciated again this year, allowing vendors and purchasers to settle in La Teste for a few days and to work in a dynamic and relaxed atmosphere. The sale was topped by a filly by Le Havre sold for €130,000, becoming the first six-figure sale for Osarus. Consigned by La Motteraye Consignment, she was knocked down to  MAB Agency for Pandora Racing, following a head to head battle with Mandore International Agency (Nicolas de Watrigant). For the second year, MAB Agency and Jean-Claude Rouget were the leading purchasers, followed by Con Marnane, Frédéric Rossi (purchaser of lot 170 a colt by Kendargent out of Freeze Frame, granddam to Prix d’Arenberg (Gr.3) winner Kendam),  and SackvilleDonald Ltd  (buying for the second time at La Teste, and purchasing a total of 5 lots for trainers Ed Dunlop, Ed Walker and Harry Dunlop).
