The Summer Sale returns to the Elie de Brignac sales complex in Deauville. Breezes for flat bred two year olds and two and three year old store horses will take place on Tuesday 1 July from 3pm on the new fibresand track of the Deauville-La Touques racecourse; a number of young horses in training and three-year-old store horses will also be shown schooling over hurdles, an innovation launched by ARQANA this year. They will go through the ring the very next day on Wednesday 2 July from 11am while the horses in training will be sold on Thursday 3 July from 11am.
The Summer Sale is the source of numerous winners, some of which are successful at the highest level. 2014 is no exception. ADRIANA DES MOTTES bagged the Mares’ Novice Hurdle Championship Final (Gr.1) at Fairyhouse in April this year while PINEAU DE RE showed off all his class to take the legendary Grand National at Aintree (Gr.3). Also worth a mention are DYNASTE and DIAKALI, dual Grade 1 winners as well as UN TEMPS POUR TOUT, placed at Grade 1 level and a Grade 3 winner.
This year, the catalogue numbers 444 lots including 224 horses in training, 108 store horses aged two and three and 102 two year olds bred for the flat; the last mentioned are eligible for the Breeze Up Jackpot. Indeed, this challenge was won last year by the two year old My Catch, who was bought at the 2013 Breeze Up Sale by David Redvers and who subsequently brilliantly distinguished himself when winning his maiden followed by the Prix de Cabourg (Gr.3), bagging both bonuses in the process.
The Breeze Up Jackpot has been renewed this year under the same conditions. As such any two year old graduate of the sale who wins one of the 10 maidens selected for the challenge (races run on French soil) will take home €10,000 on top of the prizemoney. ARQANA will then award the €100,000 super Jackpot to the first two year old who can double up a victory in one of these maidens with a victory at Listed or Group level in France during the season.
