Arqana is proud to announce the creation of a new boutique sale destined for promising National Hunt performers and prospects.
The Auteuil Sale will take place on Saturday 19 May at France’s iconic jumps course, at the heart of one of the most competitive race meetings of the year – the Grand Steeple-Chase weekend, which in addition to the showpiece features the Gr.1 Prix Alain du Breil, Prix Ferdinand Dufaure and Grande Course de Haies d’Auteuil.
A limited number of horses with fresh form, either on the flat or over jumps, will be auctioned in the parade ring, minutes after the last race of the day. Applications for entries are now open and should be made by contacting Dominique Boulard (firstname.lastname@example.org). The final deadline to nominate a horse for the sale is Wednesday 16 May.
The horses catalogued will gradually be disclosed online from early May, with a full printed version available on the day of the sale at Auteuil.
The Auteuil Sale aims to build on the successful Wild Card concept, which was introduced by ARQANA in 2009 and has quickly asserted as an extremely powerful tool to fuel the public market with attractive performers and enable vendors to sell at the right moment.
Arqana CEO Eric Hoyeau commented on the innovation: “With the first of our National Hunt sales taking place in July and so much quality racing taking place in the spring, we felt that vendors would be interested in an earlier opportunity to bring a smart performer to the market. With horses in training, timing is of the essence as the figures commanded by Wild Cards entries as well as online sales frequently remind us. The Auteuil Sale will allow some owners to cash in on promising young horses while providing others with an excellent showcase of ‘French-made’ talents to choose from. The Grand Steeple-Chase weekend attracts National Hunt professionals from all over France and has also been well attended by British and Irish visitors who enjoy seizing the opportunity of a relaxed weekend in Paris after the close of their local season. We must thank France Galop for their support in the launch of this innovative sale and look forward to receiving exciting entries.”
